How it Works
If you've never played a tabletop RPG or board game solo. I highly recommend checking out DND Solo and DND Duet. There are gamers out there who like to play solo using D&D or other game systems on their own. I also recommend checking out gamers such as Me, Myself and Die, Solo Dungeon Crawlr, Geek Gamers, and even many more who play solo D&D and more.
This world is compatible and meant for solo D&D gaming but can be system neutral depending on how you want to modify it.The Basics
To get you started with your adventures in Artaelia:
Choose a Location to Start From
- You can look at the Map of Artaelia and choose from the different regional maps of Ulnas Doth and Ulnas Arvow.
- Create your character after checking out the different maps and About Artaelia.
Beginners
- If you're a beginner, start with a Level 1 Character and use the standard array of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 to put into your six different ability slots if you're using 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons.
- Make sure to choose standard equipment according to your class and add 15 GP into your coin purse.
- Highly recommend using D&D Beyond for your character sheet, Roll20 or good old PDFs/Notebooks.
Intermediate to Veterans
- If you're a veteran of table top role playing and other RPGs - go ham, use what you want.
Leveling Up
Wait, what about Leveling Up? If you're using D&D 5e as your gaming system, use Milestone as your leveling system. That way, whenever you're comfortable doing so - you can go ahead to the next level of your character's development without feeling hindered by numbers. Or you can go the more traditional route of XP if you want to have that Video Game experience. It's up to you. That's not helpful to newer players but there are tons of resources out there showing you how to level up using XP.
If you're using a different gaming system - leveling up may or may not really matter for you. Use your own discretion regarding this.
Set up your game and head space.
Everyone has a different way to play the game. From dice to character sheets, from maps to tokens, from virtual note-taking to good old pen and paper. There isn't a right or wrong way to do this, just do it. Set yourself up for success to play and have fun with this. No one is judging you here, but you.
Last and most important step! Let's Play!
Various Oracles are available including a section on how to set up or frame your adventure, roll some dice and see what happens! If you want to structure this even more, look up the various modules out there, choose one and play as if you're playing that module at the table. Now if you don't want any spoilers, just play using the oracles and again...see what happens.,
